Bonnie and Clyde, the infamous duo who blazed a trail of terror across the
Southwest, hid out right here in the
woods surrounding Austin Ranch. And although they may have been the most famous guests on our property, many other notable folks have spent time with us over the years, including cattle barons, politicians and business tycoons. Austin Ranch was founded in the late 1800s and later taken over by Dr. Frank Austin and his lovely wife Ruby Austin in 1956. Dr. Austin was a descendant of Texas hero Stephen F. Austin, known as the father of
Texas, who was responsible for the colonization of the region. Today their legacy of
Western hospitality continues. In fact, many of the recipes created by Ruby Austin are
still being followed today, including her famous fruit cobblers. For a true taste of the
Old West, Austin Ranch provides an experience unlike any other.
